Just checking that everyone knows that Saturday 13th June (that’s this Saturday) is World Knit in Public Day.
If you’re in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Gisborne, Nelson, Hokitika, Greymouth, Christchurch or Dunedin you can go to an official gathering.
Bring your knitting or crochet and spend part of Saturday as a member of the world biggest annual craft group.
If you are in Christchurch then you have a chance to be part of the biggest group of knitters from around the world.
Amy from the loop knittery is (as anyone whose been to one of her awesome Craft2.0 workshops) is a genius when it comes to both knitting and crochet.
She’s also the driving force behind Christchurch knit in public day which is being held outside the Dux de Lux from 11am till
3pm.The are a whole range of knit events planned for the day and if you are a novice knitter or can knit blindfolded there’s a spot just waiting for you.
So don’t spend the day inside, get outside and knit in public tomorrow
for more info on all the events and the day in Christchurch head over to knit.co.nz

it’s a small boy in the waiting line for gift bags just before 11am this morning, capes are awesome and what made this shot even more awesome is that this young chap happens to be the son of Michelle from needlefood.
We’ll update our flickr stream with more, less blurry images later this week, but for now it’s good night from Christchurch and crafters don’t forget to apply for wellington in July applications close at 5pm tomorrow. so head over here to apply

Our lovely crafters, cupcake sellers and coffee cart like to be paid 2 ways at Craft2.0
1. Cash
2. CraftCash
What is CraftCash?
there is no money machine at Our City O-Tautahi
so getting cash out involves heading down to cathedral square
So we rent an eftpos machine for the day
However instead of handing our real cash we hand out CraftCash.
CraftCash can be used at all the Craft2.0 stalls. think of it as monopoly money but at the end of the fair you always win becuase you’ve purchased lovely creations
How it works
Look for the ‘buy Craft Cash here’ sign, it’s at reception when you first walk into Our City O-Tautahi
You get money out from the eftpos machine
it is specially designed notes that no legal value except at this craft2.0
you then go to a stall with that craft cash and buy something using it, you then get change in real cash
The money is only vaild for this Craft2.0 on june 6th 2009
there are no refunds of Craft Cash
Each withdrawal has a transaction fee of 50 cents
on another shopping note, apparently haggling has become a popular thing at shops. It’s not a popular thing at Craft2.0 So please do not haggle with people selling at craft2.0. Everything at Craft2.0 hs been carefully priced by each crafter, in their pricing they are trying to take into account materials costs and the hours it takes to create each item.
Everything at Craft2.0 is handmade and designed in NZ by the person you are buying from, it’s made with love and care so please respect that.
Also haggling makes the Craft2.0 bunny cry, and you don’t want to do that now do you
