Smarten your Snapper – Baby it’s cold outside

by sue on August 12, 2009

Spring is in the air
and i know this because in Auckland the pollen count is so high that people are ringing the council about all the yellow on their roofs and cars, only to find out it’s pollen.
Here in lovely wellington daffodils are popping out from the ground and we are catching the bus.
It’s still a bit cold in morning and when you are heading home,
so mittens and gloves are still everyday attire for those in the know.

As such here is a snapper cover for every stylish welingtonist who doesn’t want to fuss with taking their gloves off to hop on and off the bus or to pick up a coffee on their way into work.

What you need
A pair of gloves (i picked my lambswool gloves up at the kirkcaldies and stains sale for $5.50)
Some jersey off cuts
Needle
Wool or Thread
Scissors
Button
Snapper Card

Cut out a rectangle of kitted wool a bit larger than your snapper card – this is your cover
Sew the cover to the top of your glove
- make sure not to sew through to the other side of your glove and leave the top end open
Sew on your button
make a loop on the glove just below the opening of the top end
Slide in your snapper card and keep it safe inside the cover by slipping the loop over the button

That’s just one idea for a snapper cover
and there are more ideas out in this world than snapper cards
so why not enter the smarten your snapper competition to win a snapper loaded with $100 and a free table at Craft2.0 October
