take a Crafting Break
Summer will soon be here and when the busy Christmas crafting season is out of the way creatives like us will be able to breath more easily, for a while at least! So, it’s time to maybe open a window and let in a breath of fresh creative air!
In the brief pause after Christmas it might be a good time to take a short crafting holiday of your own. A Crafting Holiday? It’s exactly what you need. All you do is take a break from your softies, bags, metal or scarves and try a different, unrelated craft.
Try learning to knit, make a book, create a greetings card, a scrapbook page or a necklace. You are taking a break from your own craft and learning to appreciate the skills of a fellow creative. Check out the library for crafting books to get ideas.
Bead shops run classes with all the equipment you need and scrapbooking shops like Craft House http://www.kiwiscraps.com/ can provide you with everything from classes to the tiny paper fasteners and sheets of beautiful paper. You can also take online classes at places like Big Picture Scrapbooking http://www.bigpicturescrapbooking.com/ or for textile workshops online Joggles http://www.joggles.com/onlineclasses.htm
As it’s just a holiday trip, you don’t need to spend a lot on supplies, just enough to make a small something that may be outside your usual crafting sphere. You get to appreciate the work of other crafty folk and have fun as well.
This relaxing break in another crafting world will, I hope, leave the shiny and refreshed crafty creative ‘you’ ready for a busy and successful 2010.
